SURJANI TOWN IS BEING COMPARED TO DHA KARACHI

Surjani Town is often seen as a cheap and lost-cost area when it comes to the residence. It is one of the neighborhoods in Gadap Town in Karachi. It is now on the left of New Karachi. When it comes to the population, there are different ethnic groups such as Sindhis, Kashmiris, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, and baltis. More than 99% of the population of this area is also Muslim. With the total population of 1.5 million, the conditions are always declining.

WHERE made THE COMPARISON WITH DHA START?

Recently, several videos circulated were worsening conditions of DHA were highlighted after rain. Several complaints were lodged by the DHA residents, where they explained the problematic scenario of the area. When it comes to standardization, DHA was always considered top-notch when it comes to providing facilities. These facilities have always been the limelight of DHA as it matches the exact standards of the overall development.

The comparison of DHA with Surjani started when people saw that the same conditions are seen in the area Surjani Town where the prices are more than 80% lesser than DHA Karachi. The price comparison is highlighted because they demand to be provided with the facilitation they deserve as per the payments made by them to the Defense Housing Authority. This means that there are different reasons why DHA needs to take these problems seriously and move towards taking prompt action. As a result, people will again be satisfied with the living standards of the country.

PROBLEMS

If you drive through DHA Phase 5 and 6, you will see several bungalows worth 15 to 16 crores abandoned by the residents. The reason being no electricity and provision of necessary facilities. On the other hand, there is continuous water on the road and even inside their homes, making it difficult for them to reach out to get their necessities. These problems are being faced in this area as nobody could expect such a downfall of Defense.

PROTEST

After the situation arose, many people started to protest in from the CBC office, where they demanded their rights and asked for the mess to be cleared up to return to their normal lifestyle. Their problems were not resolved. Yet, CBC filed a case against the protesting parties with the claim of spreading "hate speech." The case was taken aback by the authority as it came under the rights of freedom of speech.

This protest was again highlighted in social media as one of the major problems that came up with the issue and showed the number of problems being faced by DHA Karachi residents. If the problems they face are the same as an underdeveloped and low-cost society, why are they spending so much money on posh residence?

THE SOLUTION

There is no one solution to this problem. The issue gained national recognition, where it was highlighted as a problem where there should be a solution provided on a prompt basis. DHA should not be neglected as people have paid and still pay a hefty amount to stay clean and clear of all the mess associated with the city.
