Karachi Green Line Bus Service in 2022

The green line bus service is a hallmark transportation facility funded and managed by the government. It is one of the key projects that were part of a great infrastructure undertaking by the ruling party PMLn, which went under delays. 

PM Imran Khan came and bestowed Karachi to inaugurate the Green Line bus service on December 10th, 2021. The green line would be operated on a trial basis for a few weeks. As per the statements made by officials, it would start such operations from 11th to 24th December

Prime Minister Visits Karachi

On Friday, 10th of December, Imran Khan visited Karachi and inaugurated a green line bus service.  

This project would be the mass transit project in the city of Karachi. Over two decades have passed since the last megaproject came to fruition. 

The Project was started by PMLn in their tenure but was quickly catching dust, as no progress was made nor the project was managed. With projects not being completed at the right time, many factors such as corruption files disappearance, bribery, etc come into play.

However, the PTI government wanted to bring this project to completion. The project was completed in May 2020. But the inauguration is performed in 2021, and publicly opened in 2022. 

As per the guidelines published, only commercial operations will begin on 25th December and fully operational activity will begin from January.
